I-had-no-idea-about-this fact of the day

These numbers are absolutely ridiculous. In 97-98, Shevchenko scored 19 goals in 23 league games. The next year it was 18 in 26. His first two years in Milan? 24 in 32 and 24 in 34. His last three years in Milan? 24 in 32, 17 in 29 and 19 in 28. I know strikers are generally expected to score around 20 goals a season, but to do so at such an astounding strike rate, with such consistency, is mind-boggling.

Thierry Henry in the Premiership since 2001:

2001 - 24 in 23
2002 - 24 in 37
2003 - 30 in 37
2004 - 25 in 31
2005 - 27 in 30

Add to that the fact that over the same time frame he scored 29 goals in 47 Champions League appearances, and you have a pretty impressive resume.

dont want to get in a henry-sheva debate, both are unbelievable. but let it be stated for the record that sheva played in a much more bruising, defensive type league than henry. no disrespect to henry though, those numbers are crazy too.
