Girls = Commodities
A drought in Afghanistan (probably Pakistan's fault, right President Cry-zai?) has forced families to sell their daughters to buy food. If you think that's bad, a tribesman in Peshawar is handing over his 16-year old daughter as settlement in a dispute (somebody killed somebody else over some land, and so a jirga decided that the killer has to give his daughter away to the victim's family). By the way, I'm completely open to suggestions as to what I should do the next time someone in Pakistan tut-tuts about the "objectifying" of women in the West.
