How Quickly Things Change

Here's an excerpt from the BBC report from today, detailing the signed agreement between the PPP and PML-N:
Two issues had dominated the talks: The PML(N) party's insistence that judges sacked by Mr Musharraf in November be reinstated, and the PPP's desire for Mr Sharif's party to formally sign up to the cabinet.

Mr Zardari and Mr Sharif told a news conference that both matters had been settled.

All the sacked judges will be reinstated via a parliamentary resolution passed within 30 days of forming a new government.

And here's Pervez Musharraf in an interview with the Washington Post on December 16 - less than three months ago.

Q. Will the judges be restored to their prior positions?

A. No, not at all. What judges? Why should they be restored? New judges are there. They will never be restored.

Quite poignant, yes? Especially when you consider that this agreement was reached exactly one year after - to the day - the whole judiciary imbroglio first started.
