Now THIS Is A Song
Pay attention, don't-waste-the-time-guy. This is how it's done. Three things to note about this video. First, notice Billy Corgan's hair and, um, attire (by the way, out of curiosity, has there been a more talented artist than Corgan in the last 25 years? Just asking). Second, notice how psycho he gets toward the end of the song. Third, the video is from a 1992 show at Metro Chicago, a club up in the Lincoln Park neighborhood, where up-and-coming rock bands play frequently. You will recall that the Pumpkins were from Chicago, and broke the monopoly Seattle had on mainstream rock at the time, with Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, and Alice in Chains all originating, one way or the other, from the Northwest Pacific area. Anyway, put up the volume on your speakers for the next nine minutes. I promise you it will be worth it.

assuming you mean musicians (which means i'm going to have to ignore these noble artists: http://themodernsavage.com/2007/09/24/the-25-worlds-greatest-pick-up-artists/ ), i would have to go with (in no particular order):
thom yorke, kurt cobain, michael stipe, and yes, even eddie vedder.
imho.
yorke doesnt play an instrument the way corgan plays the guitar, cobain could not sing like corgan and knew all of three chords, and while i know little about stipe, i do know that vedder - as much as i love him - doesnt define pearl jam the way corgan defined the pumpkins (the original ones, not this bastardized version today).
imho.
Whatever man. Do you think this chut has even come close to second base with a QUARTER of the babes Justin Timberlake has slept with. Corgan can keep his cult following. Id rather look up to a guy who has nailed Jessica Biel, Cameron Diaz, Scarlett Johansson, Fergie, Rihanna, Brittany (when she was hot) and im sure a score of others.
You tell me. Would you rather have Billy's life for a year (where he goes on tour and pens a few new songs) or have Alesandra Ambrosia at your beck and call for 3 days.
im making no judgments on the quality of their respective lives. im simply making a judgment on quality of talent.
you make a strong case for the former.
And what about the two babes in Don't Waste The Time? Does Cogan have the plastic dinosaurs? The moves? A mini sports car?
Listen to dirty projectors, lcd soundsystem for groundbreaking artists; other interesting artists/bands who never got the recognition they deserve are Joy Division (precursors to punk rock), the Pixies (who were the precursors to grunge) and it would be blasphemy not to include The Smiths in the same category (whose style is now cheaply imitated by every other British Indie rock band)..so I think calling Billy Corgan the most talented artist in the past five years is an overstatement. However, that being said, you are inclined to your preferences as much as I am to mine.
Yo anonymous. Check out The National as well. You might dig their stuff.
dude if I'm not mistaken, our man vedder is from chicago too.
yeah, but the band is from washington (state). all these guys played there before they got their big breaks, as opposed to the pumpkins who formed themselves and became who they were here in chicago.
