Poor Paki dealing with American tech, seems he was hurt.

This guy was probably confused. There should have been a notice on the door or something about the door opening automatically :-(

I like how he looks to see if anyone is coming, biding his time, waiting to SLAM

silly man, not managing to figure out how that automatic door works when such technology is obviously the norm all over the country.

Funny and sad at the same time.

Now all we have to do is wait for our motley crew of Islamic parties and their supporting cast of television pundits (aka Zaid Hamid) to claim that automatic doors are Hindu-Zionist conspiracy to undermine God-fearing Pakistanis.

maani/haris: If you don't understand how something works, is your normal reaction to it always an attempt to run at/through it? Who cares if this isn't the norm in Pakistan or whether this was the first time the guy was in a building made of bricks and cement rather than mud - he RAN INTO THE DOOR. He didn't walk up to it, touch it, or anything.

HE RAN INTO IT.

Yeah to be honest, I didn't think this was funny, I thought it was a little sad and mean. Haven't we all looked really stupid being exposed to something for the first time? (No virgin jokes please, trying to be serious here).

What's mean is what you did to Bubs you monster

AKS said...

Sad sure, but how the hell is it mean? Its not like anyone pushed him through the door or put in an invisible door in his way. There was a door, he saw it and then RAN INTO IT!

And surely he must've gone through the same door when he entered the building so should perhaps have realised that running through the door wouldn't the smartest thing to do.

This is rather bizarre. I understand the 'approaching something for the first time' logic... I've been incredibly stupid myself at times. But as Asfand said, "HE RAN INTO IT".

To be fair... it's a shame people are associating the incident with the guy's beard! WTF!! As if that factored into the poor man's confused state of mind.

(Your mum has a beard too, take that)

What is hilarious is how the copper is just nonchalantly strolling about after the incident, as if (a) it has nothing to do with him, and (b) it's something that happens all the time.

Our cops are such fucking idiots.

Adeel,

Mullahs have become the Pakistani version of rednecks, and in a way they're supplanting Pathans. A person doing something stupid is funny, a pathan / redneck doing a stupid thing is hilarious.

And I don't think anyone outside the comments section of youtube is really associating, or would associate this video with the man's beard.

AKS,

Fair enough. I was just incensed at the clip title.

BTW, I do think it is bloody hilarious.

They dont have automatic doors at madrassa! So its natural for him. He is doing what he is taught, use brawn rather than brain!

Guys,
This is a little sad. The guy looks like a poor student who is a little confused about how the thing worked. There was this bit that Bill Maher did a couple of weeks ago about bathrooms in restaurants getting trendy sinks so much so that its hard to figure out how you are supposed to wash your hands in them. This may not be a trendy door per se, but can still confuse someone a great deal if they have not seen something like that before. Also, the guy could have walked in from another entrance and may not have noticed how the door functioned while coming in to the bldg.
Give the guy a break, oops, I mean let him be, he has suffered enough.

I think he saw "Begum (Mrs.) Nawazish Ali" across the road and ran for an autograph.

This video ... ummm is wierd !? The person did not go close enough to the door ... had he, it would have opened, if the door is automatic. He seems to be waiting out of range of the sensors and then charging at it. The installers should have pasted a notice in English / local language that the door is automatic. A red line be painted on both sides of the door to indicate the range of the sensors.
