Former Minister Sher Afgan Gets His Ass Whooped
Geo News is telecasting footage of Sher Afgan Niazi getting the shit kicked out of him by lawyers in Lahore. The video shows a visibly shaken, injured and blood stained Sher Afgan being hauled into an Edhi ambulance by a solitary policeman; the ambulance is completely surrounded by lawyers and has had its windows shattered. The Geo reporter is live on the scene and reports that the ambulance has still not managed to get moving and stones are being throwing at Sher Afgan. Earlier, Aitzaz Ahsan, who is also present, attempted to stop the lawyers from attacking Dr. Afgan but was unable to do so.
This is ridiculous. Sher Afgan may have been an outspoken supporter of Musharraf but he was hardly a key power player in Mush's regime. He had more comic value than anything; while cases are filed aginst Pakistani politicians for their corruption, in the case of Sher Afgan as reported by The News here, a Supreme Court Petition was filed whereby it was prayed that the court discharge him of his duties as federal minister and nullify his election to the parliament on the basis of him being "insane and mentally imbalanced". In the friggin Supreme Court of Pakistan - I'd love to witness the proceedings from that case.
Regardless of anything, the man does not deserve the shit kicked out of him by supposedly intelligent and 'literate' lawyers. In other news, the firm just opened an office in Lahore and I'm going to be shipped their from time to time so I foresee myself standing shoulder to shoulder with my stone hurling brethren. Marvelous. Beat on the Brat...

done? well, now lets focus on the fact that aitazaz has completely lost control of his own movement. no matter how much i admire the man, i have admit... kinda saw this coming.

It would've been honourable had Aitzaz stuck to his decision; but he hasn't.
Aitzaz has deferred his resignation and blamed the police. Excellent.
What is it about Pakistanis in power? They make great noise about their decision to step down but never do. I guess we expect our leaders to be dishonourable, power-hungry bastards and our leaders feel compelled to reassure us by confirming our perceptions.

relinquishing power is a tough thing for most 'leaders' to do... we were both foolish to think that aitazaz (who now commands no constituency other than the lawyers) would be any different.

'da bastard' (jermaine o'neal school of english right here), despite his countless flaws, deserves a). to be treated with the exact same rule of law that the king's party deprived so many others of. how are we any different if we are to think otherwise?

part of me feels like i shouldn’t be surprised at how psychotic people can be (including the reporters who were behaving as aggressively as the abusers. i'm sure flashing cameras in your face isn’t exactly pleasant)...but i am. mob mentality makes people do unbelievable things. it is truly horrific..

a. what difference does it make 2 spell the as da? is that going 2 change anything?
b. This wasnt just any innocent old man being beaten by youth---he was a big bastard who was enjoying his illegitimate position while most of pakistan and pakistani were burning with poverty,indignity, and lack of freedom my friend. Though being frank, i wouldnt had struck him. just pulled his shalwaar down and take off his qamis, then i would had handcuffed and blindfolded him and told him 2 make his way home himself from da city square and nobody 2 aid him on fear of being shot.

that's what politicians do and that's what they're there for. so if that's the case, we must then resort to openly beating up old men (and some women) while getting drunk with rage and anger ourselves, and call it just in the long term? when was the last time we saw an angel in power or in some position?
on a separate note, i don't agree with asad/ahsan's criticism of your use of "da" or of jermaine o'neal's ebonics/english.
