Dear Miss Pakistan, the word is 'Condemn' NOT 'Condone'

Why CNN? Why have you interviewed Miss Pakistan on this issue?

I for one did not know that Pakistan had a 'Miss Pakistan World' by the name of Natasha Paracha. I also did not know that that she is the Chairperson of Pakistani Affairs with the United Nations International Renwable Energy Organization. I was actually quite suprised on both counts.

There are many silly, but well meaning things she says during this interview with CNN. For instance, that India and Pakistan have for many years been both 'friends' and (bizzarley) 'colleagues', and that Natasha is somehow an Ambassador to Pakistan. The most especially daft one was as follows:
"The image of Pakistan has been threatened with these recent attacks and I feel that now as Pakistanis we have to stand up and condone what has happened in the country of India and through these Mumbai Attacks."
and if you thought it was a slip of the tongue, here again:
"As an ambassador to my country Pakistan I feel that we as Pakistanis need to work together, and indians as well need to work, and work on this friendship that we have and condone these attacks, thoroughly.
I am still debating whether the anchor was mean or merciful for not correcting her.

But surely, if you were going to appear on CNN wearing a Miss Pakistan sash, in order to give a statement on behalf of your country in the midst of a political crisis, you would take the time to learn the difference between two fairly critical antonyms. You went to Berkley for God's sake. I mean I know you mean well and all, and it is appreciated, but seriously yaar, could you please do your homework?

Who made her Miss Pakistan anyways? She wouldn't make Miss My Ass if it were up to me

hahaha at trackback.
i don't know it seems to be all the rage in canada and america, basically amongst pakistani expatriates.

this is really, really embarrassing... maybe dawn or geo news should invite miss south carolina (remember her?) round for chit-chat and have her represent americans.

Hey Anonymous DICKhead can you read the bottom of that page where it says that that page was served by fiverupees. i.e. that is not a real blog it is a collection of blog posts from here and there in one place. DICK

Crazika, Teabreak reposts posts from other blogs and links it back to them- it's a network of blogs, like Bloggers PK and Pakistan Bloggers.

This morning, at least 5 people sent me the video before I even had my first cup of coffee. I definitely cringed while watching it, but when I went and read some of her other interviews, including another she did about Mumbai - she's not THAT stupid. She actually started an NGO and studied Poli Sci at Berkeley, (although that could be a poor reflection on the school).

Why was CNN interviewing a beauty queen about politics in the first place? How can you logically expect profound statements from pageant girls who constantly regurgitate lines about world peace?

And there's a very interesting poll to the right: WHO'S THE GREATEST EMBARRASSMENT TO PAKISTAN?

i remember a forwarded email titled ''and they say Pakistanis can't spell'' - it was an image of some old pathaan men holding up a placard reading ''we condom america's drone attacks'' (or something along those lines) see the relevance to this topic?

see, they were still one letter closer to the correct word over this 'berkeley graduate', 'UN ambassador', sash wearing, ear-piece wriggling ideot!

this video isn't available in my country? wth youtube.
also, i can't be the only one who finds supersizeme's comments to be asinine and annoying. even the these-blog-admins-are-west-loving-kuttas adds a little something to the general reading pleasure of this blog, i feel, but her comments just irk. is she friends with any of the admins? if not, please consider this a request to ban her from publishing comments, if thats possible.
p.s. the poll = painfully hilarious.

Oba:

That's really not saying much.

Anon635:

Haha well unfortunately even if we wanted to ban individual commenters (and we definitely do not, even the "west-loving-kuttas" guy) I don't think any of us know how.

And no, supersizeme is not a friend of ours (at least mine).
