Khalid Hasan RIP

It is with profound sadness that I report the passing of Khalid Hasan, one of our finest writers and an unparalleled custodian of our cultural history. Khalid, or Hasan sahib as he was known to those of us much younger than him, was a fabulous conversationalist and one of the funniest men I have ever had the pleasure to meet. He will be sorely missed.

His death is very sad. I've been able to meet him as well, and he really is a lovely and kind man, not to mention a great journalist/writer.

Great man, his works, especially translations of Manto, made Urdu accessible to us firangis.

definitely one of our best journalists, not to mention a rare voice of sanity. RIP.

R.I.P.

Raza, so very true. Without KH's translations I would never have been introduced to the wonderful, acerbic world of Manto.
