I love late Sunday brunches. I am a 'deshi'. So, it is natural for me to crave savory food with fresh pepper and brunches are no exception. Scrambled egg is my favorite dish.It is a wonderfully comforting dish on a rainy morning or during snowfall. I associate it with the kind of food we'd have on rainy days back home, when we used to pass time with family and friends by eating hot, fried snacks and watching Bollywood movies. I love it with toast and hot coffee.
I would second that, but mostly because scrambled eggs are the most versatile. Cream Cheese, Cheddar cheese, tomatoes, onions, chillies, butter, milk, whatever you like you can add. Plus they dont require the skill that you need to flip a cheese omlette.
I voted for other. There's this awesome spicy egg with onions, chillis and coriander that is made in my house which is preferably eaten with a hot paratha (we call it Kharas - its like a scrambled Pakistani omelette).
One thing is official, no one likes boiled egg. I remember mom shoving it down my throat every morning in junior school. Just thinking about it is making me nauseous.
I would say it has the following thing going for it: when you're living alone, and need to eat a full breakfast in quick time, it's the best option. When I was interning in 2005 in DC and actually had to eat breakfast, I would put an egg to boil before brushing my teeth/mouthwashing/shaving/pissing, come out, and voila, breakfast was ready. I could leave the house 30 mins after waking up. No other egg gives you that option.
Yes, but there's actually MAKING involved (i.e. you can't do something else while it is being prepared, unlike boiling an egg). Also, you have to batter the egg with cheese and butter, which also takes about 5 mins. All told, it's more of a hassle to make scrambled eggs than a boiled egg (also easier to eat the latter). The convenience factor for boiled eggs is off the charts.
@AKS: FYI .. i GENUINELY prefer soft boiled egg over any other form. Seriously. Emphasis on soft though. 2 mins on the boil, timed to second perfection. Each spoonful taken with a pinch of salt and a slightly more generous sprinkle of pepper. Breakfast of champions.
I suspect what may have been shoved down your gullet in junior school was hard boiled egg, which i have to admit is the most vile tasting food ever. Esp. the solidified yolk bit. It looks like baby's puke thats been refrigerated overnight. And to think that a few extra seconds on the boil can have such catastrophic consequences.

You know, I really thought Omelette would have been the runaway winner, but there you go.

I feel REALLY bad for the boiled egg option.

AKS: Kharas sounds really yum; is it good with toast? Care to share the recipe?
Aks what you just described appears to be a scrambled egg.
Ahsan: but you can make scrambled eggs in 2 minutes!

I remember liking the idea of soft boiled eggs as a child, because Noddy used to one out of a cup every morning.
only in theory though. they were yucky in practice.
