Cynicism Be Damned

I first became a fan of Britain's Got Talent after watching Paul Potts do this:

This year's show brings us Susan Boyle. It's taken her less than a week to become an international superstar. Here's why:

Susan Boyle in her own words:

"Modern society is too quick to judge people on their appearances," she said. "There is not much you can do about it; it is the way they think; it is the way they are. But maybe this could teach them a lesson, or set an example."

She's got nothing on Potts.

Thank you for posting these videos.I can’t stop watching these two beautiful videos. What a joy. Its a triumph of talent for both Paul Potts and Susan Boyle. Susan's heart is in her voice. Her magical voice warms your heart. She is the living proof of this quote,"never judge a book by its cover". These two amazing, wonderful people have taught us that never, ever, ever give up on your dream as sooner or later dreams always come true.

I fully agree with Susan that we are guilty of judging people by their appearances alone, we need to start to use our hearts first.

This Susan Boyle woman is on every single blog I frequent -- either in the comments or on the blog itself. She's the Seth Rogen of inspirational stories.

Man, are there two bigger dicks in the world than Simon Cowell and Piers Morgan? I would recommend Morgan's memoir The Insider to anyone who likes smug, self-important jackasses.

Ahsan: What's so inspirational about Seth Rogen? His weight loss or his massive consumption of marijuana?

Haha, no you misunderstood.

Seth Rogen = movie star who's everywhere.

Susan Boyle = Inspirational story who's everywhere.

By the way, on an unrelated note, I think this is the first time in Rs.5's history that we've had four consecutive posts from different authors. It's like our version of a solar eclipse.

amanda holden is such a big ball of cheese, her facial expressions are completely orchestrated and american-fake. cringe cringe.

i loved how she came on to simon cowell though, did you just see that gyration? and the look on simon cowell's face - priceless.

how british of her to admit something like ''i've never been kissed'' on national TV.
i've always felt a severe aversion to these kind of shows. yet here i am commenting anyway. oh the irony.
