Shoaib's Genital Warts
I'm going to make this short so I can return to my giggling fits. Of the many injuries Shoaib Akhtar has sustained over his career, this is probably the most expected.
"Shoaib Akhtar has been withdrawn from the World Twenty20 squad and Rao's name has been sent to the ICC as a replacement," a board spokesman said.
An unusually graphic press release from the board said that a three-member medical panel appointed by the PCB had found that Shoaib was suffering from "genital viral warts and Electrofulgration was done on May 12, 2009."
The panel added that "his wound though healing needs further care and treatment for another minimum ten days for the purpose of healing and to achieve skin cover. Medical Board further recommended his re-assessment after 10 days.
He might want to frequent a higher class of prostitute next time.

ever heard of doctor patient confidentiality??
Oh dear. Well, no one can say he didn't have it coming.
Though Anon316 is right. What about this confidentiality stuff? Maybe the PCB intentionally released the info to embarrass him so they don't have to deal with for the foreseeable future?
i think a lawsuit is on its way!
Anon316 and Ahsan: I Googled "athlete+doctor-patient confidentiality". I didn't find anything definitive but it seems that since both the athlete and the team doctor are employed by the same organisation, the organisation is usually told about any medical problems that the athlete is suffering from. Since there is no concept of confidentiality existing between the organisation and the athlete, this information can then be disseminated publicly.
The same principle exists in the corporate world. For one of my jobs, I had to take an HIV test for health insurance. If I tested positive, the company would have been within their rights to be informed about it.
shoaib akhtar's not getting 'lucky' for a while to come now.. hahaha
bubs,
though the pcb have a right to know about shoaib's 'condition,' surely they have no right to make this public knowledge.
using your hiv test example, there is no doubt the company involved has the right to know. however, that does not give it the right to pass this information on to other prospective employers. or at least, thats my understanding of it
Anon502: Since there are no laws governing this, the PCB does have the right to do it. But just because something is legal, that doesn't mean it's ethical.
That said, when a high-profile sportsman gets injured, if the cause of injury isn't given it will arouse tons of suspicion and eventually be leaked anyway. So, there was no way Shoaib was going to be able to keep it quiet.
I do find it hilarious how the Pakistani media is euphemistically referring to it as a 'skin condition.'
im still not convinced...either way, id take them to court for sure...not that im an expert in the legal field of course
i guess it serves that kala kanjar rite!!! i just wonder how many other players of our wonderful cricket squad of islami jamhooriyat of pakistan carry genital warts or other STD's??!! after all, quite a no. of our ex-players had reputations of being real hardcore playboys such as imran khan, waseem akram, waqar ahmed, mushtaq ahmad, ijaz ahmad, saleem malik, rameez raja just to name a few. i remember seeing them a few months (except for imran)after the 92 world cup at a five star hotel in dubai---i was visiting from england for business and my suite was located adjacent to them and i got waseem and waqar's signatures in my diary but i couldnt foget the gori call girls and buckets of cold champagnes that were flowing in and out of their suites (in fact i was invited but politely declined since i had some commitments and other errands and didnt want to become drunk and unproductive the next day). This was all courtesy of the rich arab sheikhs who were happy at pakistan's victory of the world cup a few months ago---It was an open secret that such things happened, but seeing it firsthand, it was shocking to say the least.
Remember that anti-smoking campaign advertisement the government ran back in the 90s with Wasim Akram in it? "Wasim Bhai, aap thaktay nahin?". Wasim Bhai replies with a smile: "Nahin. Mein cigarette nahin peeta."
"....mein sharaab peeta hoon."
Our cricket team never loses an opportunity to embarrass us, do they? :P
oh man. the money I'd pay to watch a PSA about STDs with Shoaib Akhtar :o
Man this is too funny
This whole thing started when Shoaib informed the PCB that he could not take part in the T20 camp as he had been diagnosed with a 'skin problem.' The PCB were pissed off because as per board regulations a player cannot seek outside medical aid until authorised to do so by the PCB.
I know Shoaib broke the rules, but can you really blame him? Its an embarrassing situation and anyone would be hesitant about telling their employers about such a condition, especially where there's so little shared goodwill.
The PCB acted petulantly and have crossed a line here.
By the way, Shoaib's not the only one embroiled in a 'scandal' of late. Mohd. Asif has been embroiled in a drama of such intrigue that it is worthy of a slot on Star Plus.
Lollywood actor Babrak Shah has publicly blamed drug baron Mohd. Asif for ruining his marriage / relationship (not sure) with actress Veena Malik, with whom Asif is said to have had an affair.
Privately Asif has claimed that he was set up by the two and they've run of with a substantial bundle of cash. Apparently one night Asif asked Veena if there was anything he could get for her, Veena replied a 'Toyota Hilux Vigo,' Asif duly wrote her a cash cheque for the amount. The next morning Veena had bounced, Asif much more in control of his senses contacted the bank to cancel the cheque but by this time it had already been cashed.

That video was scandalous. I think I need to take a shower.
What was even funnier about Shoaib's "skin condition" aka genital warts is that he was kept away from the other Pakistani cricketers out of fear they might get it too. Adds a whole new meaning to the phrases "team unity" and "the boys performing" doesn't it ;-)
ahahahhahahahhaha oops hahahahhaa title shud hav been "The Balls Of Shoaib Akhtar" :)
